Nuestra Casa envisions a vibrant East Palo Alto community united around shared values, a multicultural community working together to ensure that all of its residents are integrated and have access to the American Dream. Through their participation in civic engagement activities and through collaborative community action, our families will pave the road for other generations to follow. We exist to uplift Latino families in East Palo Alto and the mid-peninsula though community education, leadership development, and advocacy.

Our Impact

We are committed to tracking the progress we are making in the communities we work with. Our staff devotes time/resources to measure our impact and reflect on our programming strengths, and areas of growth.

  • Provided ESL instruction to 1,800 students

  • Trained 700 parent leaders through our Parent Engagement workshops

  • Today, we have a diverse service portfolio that annually serves the needs of approximately 5,000 people throughout San Mateo County, and we count on the support and collaboration of over 60 different entities

 Reaching approximately 22,000 residents since our inception in 2002.


Our Programs

Our programs are designed to support the following 3 key outcomes:

1) Public policy as well as local and regional planning decisions in East Palo Alto and the Mid-peninsula benefit Latino families’ well-being.

2) Latino parents engage in their children’s education, positioning them for success in pursuing higher education and/or vocational training.

3) Latino families successfully navigate service systems and access supports that advance their well-being and self-sufficiency.

Community Workshops

We pride ourselves in being responsive to our communities' needs. Throughout the year, we offer workshops that are relevant to the most pressing needs and we leverage our partnerships with other community organizations to provide the best resources available. 


Intentional professional development to build grassroots leadership skills. We aim for our community promotoras to increase leadership roles in advocacy and community programs. 


Parent education and leadership

Parent engagement and school leadership programs to help our parents be the best advocates for their children and families. 



Community outreach

Promotoras/Family Advocates provide systems navigation to ensure families access to resources and referrals to partner organizations.  



Integrated in supporting the success of our Nuestra Casa community in other programs, ESL classes are focused on building language skills at various levels. 



Our staff is active in local policy to ensure it's alignment with our communities' goals and needs.
